Judaism


The founder of Judaism was Abraham and began about 4,000 years ago and is still to this day worshiped in many countries all over the world today. Abraham is the founder of this religion because one day he was out for a walk and God revealed himself to Abraham and made a covenant with him to lead the way for his people and show that God is good.

Leaders of Judaism


Judaism has many leaders such as Moses who received the Ten Commandments or rules for Gods people to follow or the Rabbi which are the religous teachers and the cantors which lead the songs or chants.

Jews worship God at a variety of places like synagouges, temples, or shrines.

Origin and beginning


Judaism began in the Bronze Age and started in Israel .Today it is mostly practiced in Iraq, but is still practied in other places like North America and Africa.

Gods Or God?


Jews believe in one God this is called monotheism. They believe in God because it is said that God revealed himself to them and made a covenant with them for them to lead the way and because God gave them the 10 commandments for them to follow.

Sacred Writings


Torah_3.jpg Jews believe in the Tora. The Tora is written on sheepskin and has two parts the Oral Tora and the Written Tora. In the tora contains the story of the Jews journey and is about all the miracles God has made and the story of how the religon began and how they made a covenant with God.

Religious Practices


Jews fast for some of their holidays and also pray in the temples or synagouges close to where they live. Jews fast for passover and on some of thier other big holidays. Jews also wear special clothes that have meaning about their religon like tallit with 63 beads representing all 63 of the rules their religon has for them to follow.

  • Yom Kippur : The day of atonment
  • Passover : The day when they were freed from slavery
  • Hanuka : The day they won against the Tyrants
  • Rosh Hashamah : The Jewish New Year
